Tuesday Tag with Flower Soft

Today I have made a tag using flower soft. First of all I have used gesso to give the tag a good covering, I used pastels to paint the background and also Tim Holtz distress inks to paint in the tree and the feathered branches. Then using tacky glue I've used the Flower Soft.

Make A Card

I made a card using punch craft with two white circles, four white ovals, four pink ovals, eight tiny pink circles and one small pink circle. I added white flower soft to the body and around the face to give it a fur like look.

For today's Five minute Friday I have made a card front. I stamped the image and colouring using copic markers, I've enhanced the flowers and leaves with various colours of flowersoft.

Technique Thursday

This week we look at flower soft and sparkly fluff. It is great for adding dimension and texture.
I have created fur on the bunny with sparkly fluff

I have made flowers and given then dimension by adding flower soft in the centre. Some of the flowers do not have flower soft in the centre so you can see the difference. This is a cheap and easy way to create your own embellishments.

I have also used flower soft on paper to give interest to the paper

An easy way to decorate a simple gift box with washi tape

 

Or you can make a quick pencil/pen holder by covering a card box with cream paper and then washi tape in stripes as shown below.

The pen has also be Washi'ed by pulling the centre out, wrapping the ink tube in washi and then replacing it.

Tuesday Tag
Today I have made a tag and used washi tape to make a flag banner at the top and a ruffle at the bottom. I also used washi tape to create the tree trunk. I have also used flower soft to create a tree. I distressed the tag using Tim Holtz ink refresher and coloured the background with distress inks.

Today's cards are all using Washi Tape. I made them for a card class that I teach.
For these three cards I have started with a piece of cream card stock and made a card front first before attaching it to a coloured "Card".

This first one is using Washi Tape on an angle across the front of cream card stock. The Green Washi Tape is using the stick and twist effect and I've just gone between every other butterfly tape.

 

 I created a ruffle piece that goes straight across the cream card stock, then on either side I have used a different pattern but just flat. This same pattern was used to make the flags.

 This card uses 2 different designs of black washi tape. They run along the cream card stock at different lengths. The I have put the card stock through an embossing folder and added a punched flower and a rose.

5 Minute Sunday

I created some wedding cake or birthday cake embellishments with washi tape. Some I added kindy glitz or  frosted lace stickles on them to give sparkle. Some have candles made out of flower stamens. I inked the edges to create a line between each  layer of cake. It was so easy and so much fun I couldn't stop making them

Today's layout is one of my son that I have made using Authentique papers. I have used  +Tim Holtz  Antique Linen distress ink through the cog mask on the background paper and have also distressed the edges.

The Washi tape is used at the side of the photo and also as a surround for the title. This is actually the name stripe form the bottom of the paper.

For this Thursday's Technique we are going to show you 5 simple things to do with Washi tape.

 

 

From the bottom upwards...
1. I have made a banner by sticking a length of washi tape together with twine sandwiched between the layers. I do all the banners first and then cut them all to ensure they end up the same length.
2. I have created a ruffle affect.
3. Just a straight stripe.
4. This effect is done by sticking and twisting as you go along.
5. Creating a border or frame.

Throughout the coming week we will be using washi tape each day.

Today's Workshop Wednesday is a layout that I have done on clear perspex, You can also use 12 x 12 piece of acetate if you wanted to put in an album.

 

The back ground paper is Fancy Pants, I made the sand using Ultra thick Embossing powder and mixing it with antique gold perfect pearl power and then adding glossy accents to make a paste. The tiny shells and paua were from the local art shop.

 

 

Tuesdays Tag

I painted the tag with white gesso then inked the bricks with grey ink and a stencil. I cut the branches  and vines out on my cricut and sprayed them with perfect pearls. The flowers were made from acetate cut out with a Tim Holtz,s tattered floral. I then coloured them with alcohol inks, put them together with a basic grey brad and folded the petals to give them dimension. If you heat up the acetate with a heat gun the are more pliable to bend but be careful as they may also melt.

Today's blog shows some cards we have made using acetate.
The first two are using +Tim Holtz  tattered florals sizzix die. Colouring the flowers with +Tim Holtz alcohol inks. The background on the blue card is using a wall paper sample and colouring it with distress ink.
The third card is made using the acetate as the actual card. Stamping in green, attaching a piece of card stock and some flowers from our stash. These cards were all made during a flight to Brisbane last year, proving that you can craft absolutely anywhere!.

 

 

Scrapbook Saturday

Todays layout uses acetate rosettes. I cut the rosettes out after they were coloured with alcohol inks. I needed to put a piece of card stock in with acetate to get it to cut on the cuttlebug.  The title was printed on parchment paper. I tried using a rosette on plain acetate but it was very plain. You need to put some card stock the size of the rosette behind it.

Five Minute Friday

 Acetate can be used for many things. Here I have coloured a acetate gift box lid with alcohol inks and stamped on the other side with stazon ink

 Here I have printed butterflies and a swirl on acetate for a card. I printed two butterflies and cut them out and layered them adhering them only in the centre.

Technique Thursday

Today I will look at Alcohol inks and acetate. Alcohol inks work beautifully on any glossy surface like acetate or a glossy card stock. I often use it to make backgrounds and colour things to match cards and layouts. If you are going to stamp on the acetate do so on the other side as stazon ink will remove the alcohol inks. One method of using alcohol inks is to apply the ink to applicator felt and a tiny dot of metallic ink. Apply a small squeeze of blending solution to the felt and dab over your surface. Experiment with different methods applying inks. You can dab over or drag to make lines or rotate applicator.

Wednesday Workshop

Today I have made a scrapbook page using one of my hospice doilies. It is a beautiful old crochet doily and I thought it fitted in so well with the old photo. I hope I have given some ladies beautiful craft work another life so it can be enjoyed for many years to come. The papers are Pickled Pear from Kaisercraft. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the trim. Cut out the camera and reinforced with card then put on the page with raised mounts to give dimension. The flowers had the foam centre removed and an old pearl buttons sewn in.
I used 450 quick dry adhesive to glue the doily and flowers. It is great with fabric. I recommend you try some. I love it.

Tuesdays Tag

I have used a variety of Ranger products to colour distress and ink my tag. Perfect pearls mist, distress inks, alcohol inks, Acrylic paint dauber and black ink pad. I have also use one of my hospice find doilies which was sprayed with Perfect Pearls mist. The tag was stamped with snow cap acrylic pain and then inked with distress inks. I then wiped the ink off the stamped image with a damp cloth. I then stamped the black images. The key, frame, button and tape measure were all coloured with alcohol inks and sprayed with perfect pearls. The ribbons were coloured with distress inks

Make a Card Monday

I have used a doily in this card that I found in a Hospice shop. It was a table mat with 9 little doilies joined together. I cut them to make individual doilies. They are the perfect size for a card. The paper on the card is all scraps left over from layouts. I distressed the edge of the base paper. I used a Kaisercraft mannequin and covered it in a piece of paper. Inked the edges. Used some white satin ribbon and a white flower and coloured it with alcohol ink to match paper. I added a button and a kaisercraft sentiment

Below is a crad I have made using the sizzix doilies.

I first cut out a doilie from cream cardstock. Then I cut a 1 inch circle from the centre.

I took a variety of washi tape and stuck together long stripe of it so it was almost like double sided ribbon. Cutting 1in pieces at a diagonal to create little flags. The first layer were attached through the circle flat onto the doily. The second layer was raised using foam squares. This meant that any further layers gave dimension to the flower

I carried on with different colours of washi tape until the flower centre was complete.

I embossed the background pink card stock using a dotty embossing folder through the sizzix. then added some flags from Basic Grey and wrote Happy Birthday on one of them. I assembled the finished card.

Scrapbook Saturday

I have used the daisies from Thursday on this layout. I then stitched a stem and leaves to join the daisies together.

I have also made a layout for the Saturday scrap, I have used the doilies from the sizzix machine that I cut earlier in the week.  

I have used the 3 different die's and also included the wax paper ones too.

The paper is Carta Bella, The flowers along the edge of the photograph are made from resin. I have left the white border around the photo as it gives the effect of been mounted already.

Five Minute Friday

Today I have made a small gift bag from a shop bought paper bag.

As the bag was a brown colour I cut 2 pieces of card stock (Cream). I stamped the back of the card stock with my doilie stamps from Dark room door and my chalk inks.

 

I then attached this card stock to the front and back of the bag. I folded a cream doilie in half and attached a pink doilie to the front half using a brad. I attached this of the folded flap of the paper bag and added a velco dot to keep it closed. A flower on the front finished the whole thing off.

 

Technique Thursday

Making Doilies You can make your own doilies or find already made ones to use. My favourite places to find doilies are the op shops. Here are some doilies I have made and some I have purchased from op shops.

The instructions to make the white and yellow daisy are as follows. Use embroidery floss or crochet cotton.
Using yellow 6 chain and join with slip stitch, 1 chain and 11 double crochet into circle.
Join white and make 12 chain, join into next double crochet with a slip stitch. Repeat 11 times to make 12 petals. Finish off thread and sew ends in. Super easy to do.


Another way to make Doilies is to use your Sizzix or Cuttlebug and a doilie die.

 

Once you have selected your die, you need to add a piece of wax paper to your Sizzix sandwich. It goes directly on top of your die before your selected sheet of paper/cardstock.

This is for easy removal of your die cut shape. If you don't use wax paper it is harder to get your cut piece away from the die itself.

The shape on the left is the wax paper ,the one on the right is the actual paper.

I think the wax paper die cut is really cool and so I will try to come up with a cool page using them on Saturday (No Pressure!!).
