Create A Page

Scrapbooking

Sometimes with a beautiful piece of paper it is hard to decide what to do. With this I have tried to give it a vintage feel. The lace I have used was a hospice find and was the edging of a table mat.I added some flowers and some glossy accents to highlight details of the paper.

Create a Page

Scrapbook Layout

A very simple layout and very affordable. The blossom paper was perfect but it just needed some added interest. I cut out lots of small blossom flowers, shaped them and added a centre to arrange around the page, just like the falling blossoms,

Five Minute Friday

Today I have used bees wax and some red wax I purchased with a letter seal. As you can see with the bees wax the perfect pearls powder sinks so you cannot really see the effects. They do make a nice individual embellishment though.

Technique Thursday

Today I have decorated some card arrows using wax and perfect pearls powders. I inked the arrows. You melt the bees wax and pour it on your embellishment and then sprinkle with powder and melt it in. I found when I added the powder to the waxed arrows and then melted it in my heat tool blew the powder off all the time. I then tried adding the powder to the wax and then pouring it on but the powder sank to the bottom of the wax and you couldn't really see it. I then melted most of the excess wax off and this is the end product. Nice and grungy. Perfect for a boy layout. I thought after I might try and melt the powder into the wax with my kitchen flame thrower as it will be hot but not blow. The trick is to get the powder to melt on top of the wax and not sink to the bottom. Although I will be careful I don't burn the house down

I practised the painting technique we learnt on a canvas.
I use acrylic paint and then some pastels when it was dry.

Tuesdays Tag

This week I have made three tags that are slightly different. I painted the background with acrylic paint then stamped the butterfly and swirl with stazon ink. I then coloured in the butterfly with paint that was thinned down so you could still see the inked image. I then added different lace embellishments and some glitter on different parts of the tags.

Pastel Painting
Today I have practised the techniques I learnt with Donna Downey. I have coloured a heart and background of a 12x12 page that I intend to use as a background to a scrapbook layout. I used my finger and mist spray to blend the colours.

I then use my background to create a scrapbook page. I added a rub on sentiment. I had to put the rub on onto card as it would not rub onto the pastel background. I then added some ribbon and then raised the photo up with raised mounts

Photo Transfer

One of the techniques that Donna Downey showed us was Photo Transfer. This can also be done using script from a book (but comes out reversed). You could always write out your passage of the computer and print it out reversed to get it correct when transfered.
So what we need is some gel medium, a brush, a printed photo and a surface to put it onto.

So you coat the front of the printed photo with the gel medium and then turn it over and adhere it to your chosen paper/background/canvas etc.
Leave to dry.
When completely dry spray the paper with water using a mister bottle.
Start to gentle rub the paper backing off with your finger.
Keep rubbing until all the backing paper has been removed and then leave to dry.
Above is the completed transfer. As you can see the image is a little hard to see in places so for reference make sure you do photo transfer onto a light background, especially if you want a clearer image. In my case I'm not too fussed as I am going to be painting over some of the transfer image as Its going to become part of my background.

Donna's Finger painting

For our painting we used our fingers to paint with. I loved painting with my fingers. We used gelato for this page on the background. I then added the poppies with acrylic paint and a charcoal pencil for the stems

Donna's Texture Techniques

We looked at ways to create texture in painting. In this page we added string and a crochet doily.
On this page we use a pallet knife. If you use a plastic knife it is easy to clean as the paint does not stick to plastic

Donna Downey's Pastel Page

In this page we experimented with pastels. We looked at ways of creating dimension and shadows. Not a bad first attempt. Loved being taught by Donna
